  if you don't turn in a time slip and record your "ministerial" activities, you are no good.. if you wanted to smoke, you would be kicked out, even though the bible says nothing about smoking (and j.f.

  rutherford, the society's president regularly smoked).. you cannot go to a "quick build" project and give of your free services if you are wearing a tee shirt with a logo on it!.

  I can relate to that a lot. I also would obsess that since I'm going to die at Armageddon anyway, what difference does it make if I drink now? The endless guilt and fear really did a number on me.

  I too deal with this issue. I'm impressed by the number here who can relate. I wonder if JWs and ex-JWs have a higher incidence than the average population....

  Generation teaching. What is it about witnesses that they don't see this for what it is?

  i cannot for the life of me understand why jehovah's witnesses don't see right through the b.s.

  regarding their overlapping generation being equal to one generation.

  also, i am a bit perplexed at how little certain jehovah's witnesses know their own doctrine.. take my wife, for instance:.

  I agree this new overlap teaching takes the cake as far as pure bullshit goes. If I hadn't left before, this would have been enough to push me out. Why more can't see it when something this egregious happens is baffling. So many have invested SO much that they just can't let go.

  Is the GB setting up to dump 1914?

  with the "generation change" and them changing it all the time it would make sence to dump it all togeather.. lets face it ,it can be disproved easly.. they dumped 1975 in a heart beat .. this would buy them all the time they wanted as they would just find another date to start the generation from ie: "the u.n year of peace and sercurty'',1986 i belive or whatever else they could think of.. they could sell it to the r&f as easly as they sold 1975,then dumped it when it did'nt happen .. anyone questioning them would be told they are running ahead of jehovah or lacking faith in his earthly org that feeds us food at the proper time .. what do you think?.

  LOL at Sapphy's "heart of wisdom" comment! I'll never forget that line from the 1995 watchtower and, of course, the way they tried to blame the R & F.

  I just don't see them ever giving it up though. It's true that it's becoming an enormous embarrassment for them as they try to wiggle around the fact that 100 years have gone by. Even for the most brainwashed of their followers, surely a lightbulb would go off if they dropped 1914.

  Amen brother! If people buy this new overlapping bullshit, I have no pity for them. It's the most egregious example ever of the Watchtower expecting its adherents to swallow any new understanding no matter how patently ridiculous it is.

  I have never seen Shasta cola and lemon-lime except at conventions. Was it a nationwide thing? I attended conventions mainly at the Providence, RI Civic Center.

  I remember most of the menu. I remember what a stampede it was at lunchtime to get into the line. What a fine provision the new light about bringing our own food was. I was vile though as I went out to restaurants at lunch.

  I am once again mindblown that they can try to sell this bullshit with a straight face. Mindblowing.

  For any Witnesses with even a degree of rational thinking and an ability to reason, this has to be a red flag. Unfortunately, most don't even pay attention and are mostly in it for the social benefits anyway.

  It's interesting that the 1995 explanation is completely passed over with not a word about what would have led them to abandon it without a trace.

  Public Apologies and the WTBS

  what type of public apology do people need to hear to be able to believe it and accept it?.

  the authors of the five languages of apology, gary chapman and jennifer thomas, might have an answer.. when we apologize we hope that the act of sincere apology will eliminate bad consequences and automatically earn forgiveness of other people.

  but the authors discovered that ...sincere apologies may not always be received as sincere and forgiveness and reconciliation are not always forthcoming.
